Karl Lagerfeld has transformed the Grand Palais into a chic Chanel Airport Terminal with its airport themed Spring/Summer 2016 Collection. In line with the theme, the collection includes rolling lugggage bags outlet and a cute miniature size luggage with a chain shoulder strap. Shoulder Bags in round and box shapes makes the perfect handbag for traveling around. Chanel’s Classic Flap bags were updated in a variety of styles, perforated leather, embellished and multiple prints. Shoulder bags with a retro vibe also made its way in the runway, it has a square shape and made of tweed with a thick chain strap and comes in checkered and crisscross patterns.
Those lucky enough to be invited to the star-studded show were asked to check in with Chanel-clad staff members upon arrival at the bright, airy ‘terminal’, before being shown to their seats, some of which were cleverly modeled after those usually found in a departure gate waiting area.
Catering perfectly to his jet-setting clientele, Karl emblazoned many of his ensembles with arrivals board-inspired patterns, while others came complete with airplane pins and travel-ready Chanel holdalls and suitcases – perfect for a luxurious getaway on Chanel Air. Never one to do anything half-heartedly, the Chanel designer even had baggage ramps ready and waiting for any guests eager to check anything in before taking their seats – while the models were able to hand over their suitcases before carrying on their walk down the runway.
Paying homage to fashions favored by the people piloting the plane, some of the leggy ladies strutting their stuff down the catwalk modeled over-sized aviator-style glasses, which were also given a bright and bold twist in the form of vibrant polarized lenses. Kendall modeled a pair of orange-tinned specs, while wearing a blue, yellow, red and white tweed skirt suit, a fresh and vibrant update of the Chanel classic that has been a stalwart of the brand for years.
